Free legal aid offered for Katrina, Rita survivors Lone Star Legal Aid and the Brazos County Civil Legal Aid Referral, Inc. will jointly sponsor legal assistance clinics in Bryan on Monday, Oct. 2 at the Bryan Public Library, upstairs meeting room, at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. to assist survivors of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita with FEMA or insurance related issues. Other legal problems that face hurricane survivors include family law problems, housing problems and credit issues. People interested in speaking with an attorney for free should call Rose Jones at 979-775-5274 to schedule an appointment for the Bryan clinic. Walk-ins are welcome, but will be seen on a first come, first serve basis. Additional clinics sponsored by Lone Star Legal Aid will be Tuesday, Oct. 3 in Walker County. The clinics will be held at 10 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Family Faith Church, 2407 Sam Houston Ave., Huntsville. People interested in speaking with an attorney for free should call Lone Star Legal Aid at 979-775-5050 to schedule an appointment for the Walker County clinic. Brazos County Civil Legal Aid Referral, Inc. and Lone Star Legal Aid are non-profit charitable organizations that provide free legal services for local residents that could not otherwise afford legal help.
