Area News Briefs The Madisonville City Council will meet in special session today (Sept. 26) at 6 p.m. at city hall to consider adopting the new tax rate and budget for fiscal year 2007-08. The Sons of the American Legion will be hosting their fifth annual Law Enforcement Benefit on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the American Legion Hall, S.H. 75 N. Barbecue plates will be served from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. A live auction will begin at 5 p.m. All proceeds will be donated to the local police department and sheriff's department. International Evangelist Perry Stone will speak at Family Faith Church in Huntsville on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28-29 at 7 p.m., and again Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wilson Chapel UMC will host its Men's Day Program at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30. Bryant Harris and Unity will be guest praise and worshippers. The Rev. Perry Harris and Macedonia Baptist Church of Plantersville will be guest speaker. All churches, soloists, choirs and the public are invited. Refreshments will be served. The Harris Family, a Southern gospel music group from Pasadena, will be ministering at the First Baptist Church in North Zulch on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. There is no admission cost, and the public is invited. Happy Trails Therapeutic Riding Program for special needs children and youth is now accepting enrollment for the fall 2007 period.
