Powerlifters show well in home meet

The Madisonville Mustangs were well-represented during the varsity and junior varsity Madisonville Powerlifting Invitational held here Feb. 14-15.

“Of course, the meet went off without a hitch, thanks to our coaches, administrators, teachers, former athletes and current junior high and high school students that provided their help on Thursday and Friday,” said Coach Lou Olvera.

“In addition, thanks again to our community and parents for showing up to support our athletes.”

The District 19-3A Powerlifting Meet will be held on Feb. 23 at Palestine High School.

Following are the results from last week's meet:

Madisonville JV Team - 1st place

€ 132 lb. class - Asa Morgan, 1st place, 555 lbs.

€ 148 lb. class - Kaysen Hagaman, 1st place, 680 lbs.

€ 165 lb. class - Santos Garcia, 3rd place, 685 lbs.

€ 181 lb. class - Dasmine Whaley, 1st place, 1,030 lbs.; Colton Carswell, 2nd place, 990 lbs.; Broderick Williams, 3rd place, 955 lbs.

€ 198 lb. class - Jamie Steindl, 1st place, 750 lbs.

€ 220 lb. class - James Turner, 1st place, 1,085 lbs.; Caleb Obrien, 2nd place. 915 lbs.
