Mid South's Sam Martinez . . . focused on work safety

With an impressive workplace safety record of 35 years without any accidents requiring time off from work, Mid South Synergy was honored to present a “No Lost Time” Award to Sam Martinez.

This award was presented at an April 15 safety meeting at Navasota by Mid South's Safety Coordinator, Jim Woods. The No Lost Time award is presented by Mid South Synergy to co-op employees that exhibit outstanding work habits resulting in no lost-time accidents during the preceding year(s).

Typically, employees that earn this distinction have developed good personal safety habits that lead to fewer injuries and fewer lost workdays. This is a significant contribution to the overall success of our organization, said Mid South's Troy Morris.

“The No Lost Time award is a testament to our commitment to provide a safe working environment for our employees, which plays into our overall commitment to providing reliable service to our consumers,” said Jim Woods, Safety Coordinator for Mid South Synergy.

“This award signifies that there is a safer working environment for our co-op as a whole, plus, in the long run, it helps keep insurance premiums at a minimum, ultimately reducing costs for consumers.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration defines a lost time incident as any injury or illness an employee receives on the job that involves one or more days away from work. This would also include days needed to recover from surgery resulting from a work related incident or illness.

“Providing the safe and reliable delivery of electricity to our members is our top priority,” said Kerry Kelton, Mid South's general manager. “We want our members and community to know that Mid South is a great place to work and we are committed to keeping our employees safe each and everyday.

Having our employees return home safe and sound each day after work is very important, without a safe and hardworking team, our commitment to service would mean nothing, safety is key to our success.”

Mid South Synergy is a Touchstone Energy electric cooperative serving over 16,500 members in Grimes, Brazos, Madison, Walker, Montgomery and Waller Counties. Please visit our website at www.midsouthsynergy.com.
