Mr. Wilson was born on Dec. 21, 1940, in Madisonville to James Abner and Lorene (Hicks) Wilson and passed away on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, in Conroe. Tommy graduated from Madisonville High School with the “Class of '59” and attended Sam Houston State University. He formerly lived in Houston, where he worked as an instrument designer and draftsman for several engineering companies, retiring from S.I.P./Parsons. Tommy was a former member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Houston, where he served as a deacon, and where he and his wife, Myrtle, taught preschoolers for many years. In 2002, Tommy and Myrtle moved to Madisonville, where he was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed ranching, deer hunting and fishing. In his early years, he played softball. Tommy enjoyed antique automobiles and had a 1951 Ford pickup project in progress. He could work on anything but never liked to work alone (even if it was Myrtle who had to help him). Tommy loved being with people and had a world of friends who will miss him greatly. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 45 years, Myrtle McRee Wilson of Madisonville; daughter and son-in-law Amanda and Robert Hoke of the Huntsville area; son and daughter-in-law Thad and Joy Wilson of Montgomery; two sisters, Ona Faye McMahan and Jo Ann Fairhurst, both of Madisonville; four grandchildren, Courtney and Rebecca Hoke, and Madison and T.C. (Tommy Charles) Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 159, Madisonville, Texas 77864, or to Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 22333 Kuykendahl Rd.
