New Web site helps truckers find jobs Texas Motor Transportation Association (TMTA) has launched a new Web site designed to connect job seekers with employers in the trucking industry. This innovative resource, www.texastruckjobs.com, will function as a clearinghouse where professionals can post resumes, search job availabilities and learn about possible careers. The site also contains features allowing employers to post job opportunities, search a database of interested applicants and advertise their companies. Jobs in the trucking industry nationwide are in demand as 110,000 additional drivers will be needed by 2014 to meet the increase of freight. In Texas alone, the trucking industry provides 673,349 jobs or one out of every 14 jobs in the state. The average annual salary in the trucking profession is more than $47,000. “Our goal is to empower Texans with knowledge about the trucking industry by providing a central location to search and post jobs exclusive to trucking,” said TMTA President John D. Esparza. “We are proud that Texas leads the nation in job creation and a low unemployment rate. To continue this success, we have created an online resource that can be navigated with ease to connect interested parties.” Trucks dominate the transportation industry and Texas motor carriers alone transport more than 3.2 million tons of manufactured goods per day. Interestingly, 82 percent of communities in Texas depend exclusively on trucks to deliver goods. TMTA encourages those looking for employment to consider the trucking industry in Texas as a viable career. “The trucking industry is an essential part of keeping our economy on the road and the men and women that move America by truck are indispensable,” said Esparza. “TMTA has represented the Texas trucking industry since 1932, and this is a valuable tool to enhance the exposure of such an honorable profession.” The site is not only tailored to those familiar with and already involved in the trucking industry, but also those professionals interested in a new career path. All registration and advertising fees have been waived until Jan. 1 to give employers and job seekers an opportunity to visit the site free of charge.
