Editor’s Note: “Opinions in this column are not representative of the views of The Madisonville Meteor.” As I write this column, Christmas day is over and it is late Christmas evening, the culmination of shopping days, baking days, church activities and family planning for many of us. Having not checked Facebook for quite a few days I took a break to scroll through it and enjoy the Christmas family pics, you know, the ones that organized moms and grandmoms had already cropped, adjusted and added to Facebook.

Winter preparedness measures underway

City officials of Madisonville have stated that they are working with Entergy Texas to make sure the city is equipped to respond to any challenges during the winter months. An order for three generators has been placed to support the city’s water well and police department; however, according to City Manager Fabrice Kabona, delays have pushed the arrival of the generators into next year, which means the city is exploring different options.

SANTA VISITS RITA’S

Santa Claus paid a special visit to the children at Rita’s Playschool in Madisonville Wednesday, Dec. 20. At first the children were cautious, many of them never having borne witness to the man himself — but once he started speaking, the children quickly warmed up and were mesmerized.

The following persons were arrested or booked into the Madison County jail on Sunday, December 17, through Monday, December 25. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
