Most students will likely be at campus at some point before the first day of school, but young learners in extracurricular activities might have daily visits preceding the 2012-13 year.

Athletic teams and group organizations are having practices and meetings ahead of the fall semester at Madisonville CISD and North Zulch ISD. School begins at both campuses Aug. 27.

North Zulch varsity and junior varsity volleyball begins preseason regimens at 8 a.m. Aug. 6 with two-a-day practices. Madisonville volleyball begins the same day at 7:30 a.m., and the Mustang football team begins their scheduled sessions on next Tuesday as well.

Madisonville High School’s marching band has been at campus Mondays and Tuesdays since last week and will be holding a drum line camp Aug. 13 at the band hall. Theater arts is scheduled to have auditions Aug. 20-21 at 5 p.m. in the high school auditorium for a fall play. MHS Principal Shaye Murphy also reports the school’s student council will be meeting and catching up before classes begin.

As for students in general, all MCISD campuses will have early registration on Monday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. High school schedule pickups will begin Aug. 14-15 with seniors and continue Aug. 16-17 with juniors and sophomores. Freshmen can pick up their schedule Aug. 23 from 9 to 11 a.m.

NZISD will have high school and junior high schedules, locker assignments and parking permits handed out from Aug. 13 to 16. Each grade level has designated dates and time for pickups, but students or parents can come for the items after if needed. Students must be clear of all fees and charges from the last school year to receive lockers or parking permits.
