Funeral services for Jimmy O. Amundson, 73, of Madisonville, will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. Jim Bob Gunnels will officiate, and a eulogy will be given by Don Grooms and Terry Amundson. Interment will follow in the Allphin Cemetery in rural Madison County. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the funeral home.
Mary Winifred Corley Grivich, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went on to Glory in Heaven on Sunday afternoon, May 22, 2016, with a family vigil at her side.
Margarita Hernandez, 62, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016, in Madisonville. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Madisonville. The Rev. Michael Barone will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Madisonville City Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, from 5-7 p.m., with a rosary from 7-8 p.m. at the church.
Betty Jean Manness, 80, of Madisonville, passed away on May 12, 2016, in Houston. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016, at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
Audrey Yvonne Foster, 86, of Normangee, passed away May 1, 2016, at home. She was born on April, 7, 1930, in California, to Addie Winslow and Amos Boyson Sorenson.
Funeral services for Dylan Thomas Dainty, 23, of Iola, , were held Saturday, May 7, 2016, at First Baptist Church of North Zulch, with the Revs. Brandon Gray and Mitch Harper and Kerry Stroud officiated. Internment followed in the Rock Prairie Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, May 6, at the Madisonville Funeral Home.
Louise Carter was a profoundly stubborn woman. She insisted on living alone and did so successfully until she was almost 101 years old — no worries, she was not so bull headed about driving herself because she really like to walk. Once, while traveling with her grandchildren in London, they exited at the wrong tube station for their destination by five blocks and she insisted — at the age of 83 — on walking those extra blocks — despite her granddaughter’s protests which included “in these shoes? REALLY?”
Sgt. Billy Joe Williams was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Madison County, to Joe and Edith (Akins) Williams. After his mother died, he and his four older brothers were placed in the Methodist Orphanage in Waco.
Frances Louise Queen, 91, was called home to the Lord Friday, April 29, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the North Madison Church of Christ. The Rev. Dale Underwood will officiate. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Normangee. Funeral services were entrusted to Cozart Funeral Home in Normangee.
Nelda R. Greer, 80, of North Zulch, passed away April 20, 2016, in College Station. She was born Jan. 9, 1936, to Helen Evans and Thomas Norman King in North Zulch, Texas. Nelda lived most of her life in Madison County where she was a member of the First Baptist of North Zuch. She enjoyed working in her yard and always had a beautiful yard. She also took care of her cattle, often feeding them by hand. Nelda worked as relief postmaster of North Zulch.
J.L. Smith, Jr. was born Jan. 24, 1952, in Madisonville, to J.L., Sr. and Elvada (Lewis) Smith. He was accepted Christ as his savior at an early age and attended Madisonville High School. Mr. Smith worked for more than 40 years as a heavy equipment operator for J.R. Parten Oil Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden. Mr. Smith also enjoyed attending his church, Hopewell Missionary Baptist, and was a very active member. He served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, superintendent of his class and he sang in the choir. He could do just about anything he set his mind to do including carpentry and plumbing. Mr. Smith dearly loved his family and strived to be a role model, faithful father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services for Esperanza Martinez Badillo, 82, of Madisonville, will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. The Revs. Charleton Greene and Toni Green will officiate the service and interment will follow in the Madisonville Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 27, from 5-8 p.m. with a rosary, officiated by Deacon Steve Summers, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Inice Faye (Stedman) Beene, 100, of Oakhurst, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in Huntsvill. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 23, at Family Faith Church in Huntsville. A visitation was held prior to the service. Burial followed at Martins Prairie Cemetery in Keith.
Anita Josephine (Goode) Herman, 60, formerly of Midway, passed away on April 13, 2016, in Huntsville. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Midway Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Midway Cemetery. Lanier Stevens will officiate.
Margie Nell (Mosley) LaFitte, 76 of Dayton, passed away April 16, 2016, at her home. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, at Mount Tabor Church of Christ in Madisonville. Lanier Stevens will officiate. The family will receive visitors from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mount Tabor Cemetery.
Billy Walter Conner, known to his family and friends as Bill, 90 of Madisonville, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, in Madisonville. A celebration of Bill’s life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, at Midway Church of Christ, with Lanier Stevens officiating. A visitation will be held at the church prior to the service.
Billy Wayne Massey, 86, of San Antonio, formerly of Hilltop Lakes and the surrounding area, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 12. A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
Richard Mark Pearson, 61, of Fort Worth, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at his home after a struggle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Day Funeral Home Chapel, 514 E. Main St., with the burial to follow in Allphin Cemetery. The visitation is scheduled prior to the service from noon-2 p.m. at Day Funeral Home Chapel.
Joe D. Gunn, 84, of Creedmoor, formerly of Madisonville, went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2016. His wish to be reunited with the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Dorothy, was finally granted and those who love him know that he is once again filled with joy and peace.
Graveside services for Thomas Willard Baylor, 94, of Madisonville, will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Allphin Cemetery in rural Madison County. Wayne Bell of Madisonville Funeral Home will officiate the service. A visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville.
