Carroll S. Attaway, 93, of Madisonville, entered into rest Monday, Aug. 6. Services took place at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Marlin with Rev. Don Semonski officiating. Burial followed in Powers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation with family was two hours prior to service time.
Carroll was born July 25, 1919, in Como to George Franklin and Carrie Hicks Attaway. Carroll loved to fish and work on tractors, cars and lawn mowers. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and playing 42. He was a member of Bedias Masonic Lodge No. 651 and served in the U.S. Army. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorcas Attaway; his son, Kenneth Attaway; four brothers; four sisters; one granddaughter, and one great-grandson.
Survivors include his wife, Waunice Attaway, of Madisonville; sons: David Attaway and wife, Lynda, of Jacksonville, and Carroll Dean Attaway, of Tyler; daughter, Jean Rogers and husband, L.R., of Big Sandy; brothers, Warren and Juanita Attaway, and Carrie Attaway; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers were his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were John M. Anderson, James Bracewell, Jack D. Mallard, E.J. McDuffie and Lonnie Hardamoc Jr.
Adams Funeral Home in Marlin was in charge of arrangement.
