The Madisonville Baseball Program is working together to collect non-perishable food items to benefit the Son Shine Center here in Madisonville. Staff and students can drop off can goods to my room #305 here at high school. You can also contact Coach Borgfeld @ aborgfeld@madisonvillecisd.org to arrange drop off or pick up. Food will be collected from March 2ng through April 11th. The Mustangs will also have a drop off box at all home baseball games throughout this time.

The Madisonville track team competed in and hosted their first events of the new season at Mustang Stadium last week. The men’s varsity squad finished fourth with 103 total points while the women’s varsity team finished third with 119.33 points. The JV men’s squad was fourth with 78 points while the JV women’s squad was second with 63 points. The results can be viewed in full at Track-Mate On-Line Results. The North Zulch men’s basketball team advanced to a Tuesday 1A Regional Quarterfinals matchup against Calvert after a pair of postseason victories over Nordheim in the Bi-District round by a score of 52-51 and San Isidro 56-47. This is the first year in the 1A playoffs where fourth place teams were involved in the bracket. North Zulch was the only fourth place 1A team in the state to advance past the Bi-District round. The Madisonville baseball team was 4-0 entering Tuesday’s action with three victories at their annual Mustang Classic Tournament at MHS over the weekend as well as a convincing standalone win over Malakoff Feb. 22. The team’s tournament wins included Fairfield, Caldwell and LaGrange.

The Madisonville softball team showed out at their own home tournament Thursday through Saturday with an impressive 5-0-1 record at MHS to start their young season off on the right note. he Madisonville men’s basketball team opened their postseason push Tuesday with a matchup against Palestine at Leon High School. The winner advanced to Area to meet either LBJ Austin or Lake Belton. CAMPBELL ATKINS

The Madisonville women’s basketball team fell to Burnet in the Area playoff round at Rockdale High School by a score of 61-51 Friday to conclude their season. The Lady Mustangs defeated Carthage 68-22 in Huntington Feb. 14 to advance to Area after a second place finish in district.

The Madisonville softball team has concluded their scrimmage play and opened their regular season with a clean slate and fresh hopes on the diamond. The Lady Mustangs opened action last week with a hard-fought loss to Teague before hosting their own tournament at MHS Thursday through Friday.
