Madisonville’s Sidewalk Cattlemen’s Association put on an exciting evening last Saturday night, with their 77th Annual Steak Dinner and Dance to raise scholarship money for area youth.
After countless hours of volunteer work and preparation, the stage was set for an amazing night of fun, laughter, friends and giving. In addition to a great steak dinner, guests were able to participate in a silent auction and live heifer auction.
Heifer Buyers were Shane Boyd with Lone Star Diversified; Duane Standley with Standley Feed; Kevin Knight and Dave Ward; and James and Jason Ward with J&J Cattle Company. Two of the heifers purchased were also donated back to further assist the association.
Country music star, Rodney Crowell, provided musical entertainment for the event. Crowell has a new album out, Close Ties, featuring ten new songs and performances with Rosanne Cash, Sheryl Crow, and John Paul White.
“We had an excellent turnout this year. We added several new corporate sponsors, and their support is greatly appreciated,” says Matt Clark, Sidewalk Cattleman’s Association President. “We’re very thankful that our community always generously donates.”
Clark goes on to say, “As always, we couldn’t have pulled it off without all of the help from our officer team, as well as a lot of help from our past Presidents. Their leadership, coupled with a willingness to roll up their sleeves is invaluable.”
Fundraiser attendees raved at the great time they had at the event calling it a “blast”.
Madisonville Sidewalk Cattleman’s Association will be hosting their BBQ Cook-off on May 19th - 20th. For more information on this event and others, check out their website at www.sidewalkcattlemens.com.
