Rev. Cindy Clark takes the helm at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, 600 N. McIver, starting this Sunday, May 7.
A resident of Madisonville since 2006, Clark served as a principal in the local school district before joining the staff of Sam Houston State University, where she teaches and supervises student teachers in the field.
While working for SHSU, Clark returned to seminary to fulfill a life long dream of shepherding a church and leading people to Christ. Even as a child, while other children were playing sports and other games, Clark and her brother, a musician, “played” church.
Upon her completion of seminary, and her ordination as a Priest, Clark was assigned to the Episcopal Church in Calvert, Texas, where she has served for four years.
Clark’s heart is for serving the community. She describes herself as "entrenched" in the community where she lives. She serves on the Board for Restoration Community Gardens, a summer program for kids; The Ministerial Alliance; Madisonville Noon Lion's Club; United Daughters of the Confederacy; and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
"The church is what really ignites me," says Clark. "It is exciting to return to my home to serve a community in which I am already involved."
All are invited to join the congregation of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church for Bible Study at 9:00 a.m. and Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. Each Wednesday, a weekly prayer service begins at 6:00 p.m.
