One of Midway’s daughters made her last trip home Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016.
Alice “Gigi” departed her life Feb. 17, 2016, in Houston. She was born and raised in Midway to the late Wilber Harrison and Alma Brown Harrison. She attended Midway public schools and was the second baby girl out of seven children – Nannie Goffney, Iola James, Wilbert Harrison Jr., Pearlie Harrison, Elbert Harrison and Myrtle Young.
In the 1940s she met Carey Whittington of Anahuac, Texas, fell in love and became Mrs. Alice Whittington. She furthered her education by attending nursing school in Houston.
She worked several years at NASA Space Center until she decided to extend her knowledge as an entrepreneur and started her own business in private nursing. She kept Christ throughout her life and she loved family and friend and always had a helping hand for others.
Her family members knew her as “Aunt Sister” or “Gigi.” Alice will be dearly missed. To keep her legacy alive, a loving daughter, Ruby Dean Mosley and three grandsons: Gary, Jerrod and Eddie Mosley and nine great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the good citizens of Midway for their generosity, calls and prayers. It’s nice when someone can come home to stay; there’s no place like Midway, Texas.
