Annual event raises $11,000


More than $11,000 was raised during the annual Ropin’ for Hoot event Saturday in honor of Chris “Hooter” Heath, a North Zulch High School graduate who died in 2009.

The funds, raised by a silent auction, roping, concession stands, brisket, apparel sales, ranch rodeo and donations, go toward local scholarships provided by Heath’s parents, Chuck and Lisa Heath.

In 2006, Chris was the High Point Winner in the 7F Arena and received the team roping championship in 2008 at the MCFA Rodeo.

Those honored at Saturday’s event included:

Ranch Rodeo

•First place — Harrington Cattle (Coy Imhoff, Westen Imhoff, Hunter Harrington and Colby Lovell). Each participant won a belt buckle.

•Roping: (278 teams entered)

•No. 10 — First place — Saul Venegas, Austin Rayburn; second place - Amber Pate, Casey Robinson.

•No. 13 — First place — Brandon Dudley, Jim Ryan; second place — Brandon Dudley, Anthony Barnes.

•High Money Winner — Brandon Dudley. He won a saddle.

First-place winners won belt buckles, and second-place winners won breast collars.

•Girl winner — Keagan Pesl (won a belt buckle)

•Boy winner — Name not available at press time (won a belt buckle)
