A homegoing celebration service for Aquilla Betts, 53, of Midway, was held Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. Interment followed in the Southside Cemetery outside of Midway.
Pallbearers were Kevin R. Cossey, Sam Polk, Keith B. Cossey, Michael Donalson, Lester Dale Lewis and Floyd Betts.
Honorary pallbearers were Darryl Shields, Kendrick Betts, Bobby Kinney, Ernest Kirby, Jeffery Foster and Keith Robinson.
Aquilla I. Betts was born June 22, 1964 ,in Centerville, to Floyd Lee "Jack" and Earnest Dean (Johnson) Betts. She was affectionately known by her family and friends as "Ms. Q." Ms. Q worked as a certified nursing assistant for both Riverwood Nursing Home and Madisonville Care Center. She loved her job and the people she helped. Ms Q. was a natural caretaker, always making sure that each of her patients knew that they were special. She had been a lifelong resident of Madison County and was a faithful member of the Southside Church of Christ in Midway. Ms. Q passed away Feb. 23, 2018, at her home following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.
Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Laquitte Betts of Houston and Ajiana Shepherd of Bryan; brother, Ezell Williams of Midway; sisters, Glenda Kinney (Bobby Joe) of Midway and Alice Shields (Darryl) of Katy; nieces, Skylar Henderson, Anesia Kinney, Kitra Kinney, Jermica Foster and Jalunta Betts; nephews, Kayveon Ryles, Jeffery Foster and Keith Robinson; 16 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces and nephew.
