Arrest made in Bedias Dollar General robbery


On Friday, January 13, 2017 in Bedias, Texas, a young, black male wearing dark clothing and a bandana around his face, robbed the clerks of the Dollar General Store located on Highway 90, at gunpoint, as they were closing and exiting the store. 

Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the location regarding a report of the aggravated robbery, where they met with the two female clerks.  The females also stated that the suspect had forcefully taken both victims’ purses during the course of the robbery.

Investigators later received an anonymous tip through the Grimes County Crime Stoppers Program regarding the suspect involved in this robbery. 

“This lead to further investigation and corroboration of this anonymous tip through witnesses, along with positive identification of the suspect by the victims in this case,” reports Case Agent Investigator, Kindale Pittman.

The identified eighteen-year-old suspect, Dante Dewayne Owens, of Bedias, Texas was arrested by the San Antonio Police Department in San Antonio, Texas, in the early morning hours of Friday, March 17, 2017 after checking into the hospital following a minor traffic accident. 

On Wednesday, April 5th, Owens was transported to the Grimes County Jail, where he is currently being held on two counts of Aggravated Robbery, which is a First Degree Felony.
