We were very heartened to see so many of our Bedias-area church leaders participating in this event; this is truly what community is about, standing together in support and in love of one another.

•We read an article posted at Traces of Texas (www.facebook.com/TracesofTexas) recently, regarding the closing of Logan & Whaley Hardware in Marshall after serving the community for 133 years. If we feel badly that this place of business closed after so many years of serving its local community, then we need to show our regard by supporting our own local businesses — The Feed Store, the Hardware Store, the local coffee shop, the Serv-All, the community bank, the local movie theater, and the many other places of business owned and operated by our friends and neighbors. These are the ones that step up to the plate when there is a need in our small towns, the fundraisers, supporting community events and celebrations, and so much more. Do we really need to save those few cents (or even dollars) and bypass those businesses that serve us so well? What do you think?
•Do you have a community or church event you would like included in our weekly column? We would love to share your news with our readers.
