Break time is over, back to work now

I hope that everyone had a wonderful winter break. My family and I certainly did.

I apologize for my absence for the last two weeks. I decided to spend time and focus on my family. I look forward to writing the Iola article again for 2019.

•The Iola FFA Booster Alumni will be raising money during the Annual Lone Star 5000 PKC Coon Hunt. This event has taken place for 20-plus years as our sole fundraiser for scholarships and FFA support for the Iola FFA.

The Coon Hunt will be Jan. 10-12 at the Iola Volunteer Fire Station in downtown Iola. The community is invited to come by and enjoy some flame-grilled steaks, homemade hamburgers, French fries or baked potatoes. The meals will be served on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 5-10 p.m.

Also, back by popular demand, on Saturday night will be Southern-fried catfish, served with beans and coleslaw. Please come out to support this wonderful organization and take a night off from cooking, or three.

•The boys and girls junior varsity and varsity basketball teams will face off against Snook on Friday, Jan.11, with games starting a 4 p.m.

The girls and boy’s junior varsity and varsity basketball teams will hit the road to play against Somerville on Tuesday, Jan. 15. The games will start at 4 p.m.

If there is something that you would like to be placed in the Iola article, please contact me at Please let me know by Thursday afternoon so I can place it in the article for the next week.
