Bulldogs gear up for playoff push

The North Zulch Bulldogs won a pair of district matches over the last week and will now look ahead to postseason play. The regular season concluded last night with a match against Grapeland.

“We are in one of the most competitive districts,” said head volleyball coach Kim Branch. “The girls have fought and learned to compete which has only prepared them to play the top teams.”

The Bulldogs took down district opponents Kennard and Lovelady to establish a solid position as the postseason looms. North Zulch has been on a roll as of late, winning each of their last two games in straight sets.

Branch commended her team as a whole for their performance this week and also highlighted Anna Osth and Raegan VanCour’s play in Lovelady.

“Our only limit is ourselves,” said Branch. “We are very difficult to beat when the girld go out there and play the way they’re capable of. From this point on we just have to play our game, stay focused and put teams away early.”

The Bulldogs will officially know their playoff location later in the week. As of now, it’s looking like they will play on Tuesday night in Elkhart. It’s also likely like that North Zulch will take on either Cayuga or Neches to begin the postseason.

“We have been setting high expectations for ourselves all year long,” said Branch on what she hopes to see her team do in the playoffs. “We are taking things one game at a time, one point at a time.”
