Mr. Charles Carroll Averitt Sr. 73, of North Zulch, passed away on Jan. 7, 2016, at his home. Graveside funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at the Rock Prairie Cemetery east of North Zulch. Visitation was held at the Madisonville Funeral Home on Monday.
Charles Carroll Averitt Sr. was born on July 27, 1942, in Winchester, Ky., to Charles Jacob and Ethel Bush (Haggard) Averitt. He worked for Rainbow Bread Co. in Houston and for Kroger in Bryan. After his retirement from both of these jobs, Mr. Averitt enjoyed his time fishing, collecting coins and model trains. He had lived in North Zulch for the past twenty years coming from College Station and Houston. He was a Baptist by faith.
Mr. Averitt was preceded in death by both of his parents and sister, Ann Taylor. He is survived by sons, Charles Jacob (Rosa) Averitt of Spring and Derrick Allen (Jennifer) Averitt of Hockley; daughters, Roxanne Kroz of Trinity and Becky (Wendell) Gammons of Willis and brother, Richard Averitt of Kentucky. Mr. Averitt is also survived by grandchildren, Brad Stratton, Melissa Stratton and Jessica Averitt; step-grandchildren, Joseph and Enrique Murello and great-granddaughter, Kaysie Stratton; and by special friend, Karen Berry of North Zulch.
Madisonville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
