Funeral services for Clifton Dorman Marks, 77, of North Zulch, were held Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville. Darrel Munsey officiated the service. Burial followed in Willowhole Cemetery near North Zulch. Madisonville Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
Clifton D. Marks was born on Sept. 22, 1939, in Madisonville, to Joseph P. and Lela Mae (McWhorter) Marks. He was a lifelong resident of North Zulch and was a Christian. He was a big supporter of the community and the school. He graduated from North Zulch High School. He was involved with the Bethel Cemetery Association in Grimes County and the Willowhole Cemetery Association. For years, Clifton was an active member of the North Zulch Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a lifelong rancher and, for eight years, served as a commissioner for Precinct 4 in North Zulch.
Clifton loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He really liked to barbecue as a fundraiser for various organizations and groups. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Clayton Dorman Marks. Clifton passed away on July 13, 2017, in Bryan.
Surviving family includes his wife, Judy Marks of North Zulch; a son, Anthony Marks (wife, Dawn) of North Zulch; daughters, Monica D’Lynne Marks of North Zulch; Courtney Dawn Arroyo (husband, Tony) of North Zulch; a sister, Sarah Jo Spikes (husband, Jim) of North Zulch; five grandchildren, Joshua Marks (wife, Savannah) of North Zulch, Chelsey Rasinski (husband, Jason) of Leesville, Louisiana, Clay Marks, Boots Sims and Tony Clifton Arroyo all of North Zulch and seven great-grandchildren, Karlee Jo Marks, Liam Henry Marks, Eli Marks, Madison Rasinski, Natalee Rasinski, Briar Rasinski and Blazen Rasinski; and another grandson on the way.
Pallbearers were Bubba Tedesco, Don Lewis, Floyd Drake, Mike Carroll, James Spencer and Joe Peterson. Honorary pallbearers were David and Tommy McWhorter.
The family asks that donations be made to the Downs Syndrome Association of the Brazos Valley, 1802 Wilde Oak Circle, Bryan TX 77802.
