In a move that has been in the works for some time, Madisonville has hired Randall Cherry as its new defensive coordinator and district-wide strength coach.
Cherry will replace Brady Conger, who has accepted the position as defensive coordinator at San Antonio Madison.
Cherry, who spent the last five seasons as defensive coordinator for North Forney High School, and held the same position at Gainesville High School five years prior, comes highly recommended.
“Coach Cherry has coordinated the defenses for one of my mentors, and comes with the highest recommendation,” said Athletic Director Rusty Nail.
Cherry was a three-time state champion defensive end for Celina and collegiate standout, as a four-year defensive starter for Texas Tech.
“We are very excited about coach Cherry joining our staff,” Nail said. “We look forward to the experience and energy he will bring to our football program and our strength and speed development.”
