Commissioners offer thanks

Outgoing county commissioners Sam Cole and Thomas Collard expressed their appreciation at being allowed to serve Madison County at their final meeting, held Wednesday.

Collard, who will be replaced by Carl Wiseman as Precinct 2 commissioner, said the experience was life-changing.

“It’s been great. Maybe we’ll see each other again,” he said.

Cole said it was an honor serving for the past eight years in Precinct 4.

Cole will be replaced by David Pohorelsky after having decided not to run for a third term.

“I wish the new commissioners coming in the best of luck, and anything I can do to help, please call,” he said.

Outgoing County Judge then gaveled the meeting closed, without comment.

In other business, the county:

•awarded bids for road materials and hauling services to all bidders;

•approved official bonds and oaths of office for incoming elected officials;

•approved a maintenance agreement with Canon Solutions for the Adult Probation Department for their copier; and

•approved purchase orders, including $2,460 for the Election Administrator’s Office for extended warranties through Hart InterCivic; $2951.25 for a spam filter for the county email system through CertNet; $5,182 for the 911 Addressing Office for a reverse notification system through Everbridge; and $1,500 for Emergency Management for software renewal through Earth Networks.
