Davis Jarrel Martin passed away on Feb. 29, 2016, at the age of 67 in his home in Pasadena. He was the son of Fred D. Martin an Patsy Martin of Madisonville and the youngest of two brothers. Martin was born in Houston on Aug. 21, 1948, at Memorial Hospital.
He grew up in Galena Park and graduated from Galena Park High School in 1967 and married Dixie Paulson in 1968. Mr. Martin served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1969-1971 at Ft. Carson, Colo. He attended San Jacinto Junior College and graduated in 1972 with an associate’s degree in engineering. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at San Jacinto Junior College before retiring.
Martin was a loving father and grandfather and enjoyed being with family and friends camping, fishing and watching football games. When he retired, he had issues with diabetes and heart problems and was treated through the VA Hospital in Houston. Martin was confined at home for the last few years before his passing with limited activities. He will be missed by all.
His survivors are former wife, Dixie Paulson; daughter, Amy Smith; grandsons, Zachary Long and Cameron Smith; mother, Patsy A. Martin of Madisonville; and a brother, Fred R. Martin of Madisonville. Martin is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at Madisonville Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016. Interment will follow in the Willowhole Cemetery in North Zulch. A visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 11, at the funeral home.
