Donald Ray Crowson was born Sept. 10, 1936, in Bedias, to Victor and Elsie Crowson. He passed away on Dec. 11 at his home in Bedias. He was a graduate of Bedias High School and Sam Houston State University. Don was a lifelong educator in Texas as a teacher, coach and principal in Port Lavaca, Iola and most recently, Brenham.
Don was a member of the Bedias Baptist Church. He spent 22 years as a dedicated member of the Bedias Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed working on his farm outside of Bedias, watching his grandkids play sports, and listening to the Brenham Cubs broadcasts on the radio.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Elsie Crowson; his daughter, Donna Crowson; and his sister, Sue Rigby.
Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy, of Bedias; son, Dr. Dennis Crowson of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kristi Crowson of College Station; grandchildren, Wiley and Veronica of Kingsville, Margaret of Houston, Alli of Brenham and Charli Kate of College Station; and one great-granddaughter, Aubrey of Kingsville.
A visitation service will be held at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Bedias on Monday, Dec. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. and a funeral service will be on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 2 p.m. at Bedias Baptist Church. Lunch will be served prior to the service at 11:30 a.m. for all friends and family.
