Dorothy (McVey) Lotte, 92, formerly of Madisonville, TX passed away on Sun., Mar. 5, in Katy, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thurs., Mar. 9, at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, with the burial to follow at Mount Tabor Cemetery in Madisonville. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1PM. Bro. Lanier Stevens will officiate.
Dorothy was born on Jan. 4, 1925, in Madisonville to Burt and Myril (Myrick) McVey. She grew up in Madisonville, graduated from Madisonville High School, and moved to Houston as a young woman and worked for many years for Houston Lighting & Power. It was in Houston where she met the love of her life, Edward A. Lotte. They started their family in Houston, but soon moved to Lake Jackson where Ed worked for many years with Dow Chemical. After Ed’s death in 1978, Dorothy stayed busy with her work, her gardening, and going on trips with her daughters. She loved to go camping and spent many happy years at her favorite “watering hole” – Garner State Park. She also enjoyed antiquing and finding treasures at local garage sales.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Ed. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Renee Read and her husband Paul, Joann Chapman and her husband Steve, granddaughter Kate and her husband Troy, grandson Clay, great granddaughter Cheyenne, sister Ruth McVey Lynch and numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clay Creech, Bill Lynch, David Lynch, Ronnie Bailey, Leon McVey, and Wayne McVey.
