Early voting began Monday for the four races in Madison County that require runoffs.
County Elections Administrator Earl Parker set the lone early voting precinct, which ends Friday, at the Madison County Courthouse Room 108. Voting will be held between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The Texas Secretary of State in a press release reminds voters who participated in the primary election for either the Republican or Democrat party that they will be limited to voting in the same primary for the runoff. Voters who did not vote in the primary may still vote in the runoff.
Additionally, voters need to bring an approved photo ID to cast a ballot in person. The forms of approved photo ID are:
•Texas Driver License — issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS)
•Texas Personal Identification Card — issued by DPS
•Texas Concealed Handgun License — issued by DPS
•United States Military Identification card containing the person’s photograph
•United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
•United States Passport — issued by the U.S. government
•Election Identification Certificate — issued free by DPS
Races needing to be decided in a runoff in Madison County are:
•Railroad Commissioner, Democratic nomination, between Cody Garrett of Austin and Grady Yarbrow of Flint;
•Railroad Commissioner, Republican nomination, between Wayne Christian of Center and Gary Gates of Rosenberg;
•Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Place 2 Republican nomination between Mary Lou Keel of Houston and Ray Wheless of McKinney;
•Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Place 5 Republican nomination between Brent Webster of Austin and Scott Walker of Dallas.
Election Day will be Tuesday, May 24 at these precincts:
•Vote Center One: Midway Community Center, 5612 School Loop. Contact Lance Ferguson, (936) 348-7378.
•Vote Center Two: Elwood Baptist Church: 14527 OSR, Midway.
•Vote Center Three: Courthouse Room 108: 101 W. Main St: Madisonville.
•Vote Center Four: North Zulch Elementary School Parenting Center, 11390 Fifth St., North Zulch.
Voting will be held from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. that day.
