Edna Mae “Clark” Burke, 93, of Madisonville, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2016, in Livingston. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 16, at 2 p.m. at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, with burial to follow at Farris Cemetery in Madisonville. A visitation is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., also at Day Funeral Home Chapel. Lanier Stevens will officiate.
Edna was born Nov. 20, 1922, in Cold Spring, to Jack Boykin and Allyne “Guthrie” Clark. She served her country as a member of the U.S. Women’s Air Corps and was a past state president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Preston Davis Burke; her grandson, William Frank Dowdell; her brothers, James “Brother” Clark, Robert Vernon (Tencie) Clark and Charles Douglas Clark; and her sisters-in law, Barbara Clark and Billie Clark.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Shirley Lynn Burke Sandlin and her husband, Charles Patrick Sandlin; her grandchildren, Holly Kathleen Sandlin, Charles Faron Sandlin and his wife, Tommie, and Misty Kaye Sandlin Dowdell and her husband, Stephen Wayne Dowdell Sr.; her great-grandchildren, Amber Lynn Sandlin, Margie Sandlin Wallace and her husband, Cody, Kelsey Sandlin, Kathlynn Marie Dowdell and her husband, Bradley Adkisson, Stephen Wayne Dowdell Jr. and Charles Ray Sandlin; her great-great-grandchildren, Michael, Cody and Eli Wallace, Connor and Raelynn Sandlin and Alexis Alexandria “Lexi” Adkisson; her brother, Herbert Jack “Jim” Clark; her sister, Anna Louise Clark Whatley; her sister-in-law, Jean Clark; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Serving as pallbearers are Damon Clark, David Clark, Ronnie Hawkins, Tommy Whatley, Faron Sandlin, and Stephen Wayne Dowdell Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jim Clark, Ethan Gonzales, Weston Clark, J.T. Whatley and Steve Dowdell.
