Edna Doris Jarrett was born on March 21, 1929, in Easterly, to Eddie C. and Emma E. (Brunette) Corn. In earlier years, Edna worked as a beautician. She and her husband Jack were also the proud owners of Jarrett’s Meat Processing in New Baden for 17 years. Edna and her husband moved to Madisonville in 1995 where they were members of the First Baptist Church. One special thing she loved the most was the 15 years spent with the Texas Baptist Men Retirees building churches across Texas. While the men were working, Edna spent much of her time going door to door witnessing to people. Besides being a dedicated Christian, wife (of 63 years), mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she loved spending time with her friends, especially playing a good game of 42.
Jarrett was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Jack D. Jarrett; brother, R.R. Corn; and sister, Lillian Warden. Surviving family members include son and daughter-in-law, Jack Dale and Jackie Jarrett of Madisonville; sister, Dorothy Commander of Cameron; grandson, Jeffrey Dustin Jarrett and wife, Ashley, of Kurten; granddaughter, Cory Leann Jarrett of Cypress; and great-grandchildren, James David and Andrea Lynn Jarrett of Kurten.
Serving as pallbearers will be Sam Williams, Bubba Jones, Larry Jones, Bill Lynch, Randy Adams, Perry Mizell, Jesse Jaenicke and Craig Bailey.
Madisonville Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
