Ellen witnessed many changes in her 102 years from some of the first automobiles on the road to today’s computers and so much in between. Few have witnessed so much change. Yet, with all that has changed, God hasn’t. On July 20, 2016, Ellen Elizabeth Dittfurth answered the call to come home to the same God she worshipped as a child and throughout all her life. Ellen had been a resident of Houston for many years before moving to Madisonville almost 40 years ago. She was one of the founding members and formerly on the board of the SonShine Center in Madisonville; was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Madisonville; a member of United Methodist Women: and Eastern Star. She loved to watch the Astros (Craig Biggio was her favorite), Wheel of Fortune and was passionate about fishing.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Louis Ernst Dittfurth; her parents: James and Abigail Thompson, her sister, Ruby Kaiser, and brother-in-law, Frank Kaiser; and brother Harry Thompson.

She is survived by her son, Marvin Dittfurth and his wife, Patricia Dittfurth; her daughter, Marlene Walding and husband, Charles Walding; and daughter, Joyce Snow and husband, Bill Snow; grandsons Mike Ray, Chad Walding and wife, Brenda Walding, Chris Walding and wife Kristine, Jason Garrett and Crickette; granddaughters Terri Bateman and husband, Carl, Donna Wooldridge and husband, Marcus, Carie Dallmann and husband, Jason, Tebble Foret and husband Joe; great grandchildren Caressa Bateman, Joshua Bateman, Alizabeth Ray, Madeline Ray, Harrison Walding, Jeremy Foret, Brandon Foret and wife Karolyna, Hannah Foret, Garrett Foret, Adam Foret and Lauren Garrett; and also many nieces and nephews.
