Even dry bones can live

Nebuchadnezzar and his Babylonian army invaded Israel. They had reduced Solomon’s temple to ashes and had taken many of the Jewish people back to Babylon as captives. This is the condition that Ezekiel is in. The nation of Israel is dead.

But … God has a vision for Ezekiel.

Ezekiel 37:1-10 says, “ The hand of the Lord was upon me, and He brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. He asked me, ‘Son of man, can these bones live?’ I said, ‘O sovereign Lord, you alone know.’ Then He said to me, ‘Prophesy to these bones and say to them, dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.  I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.’

“So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone.  I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them.  Then He said to me, ‘Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, this is what the sovereign Lord says: Come from the four winds, o breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.' So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet – a vast army.”

I believe that the U.S. is in very much the same condition as Israel was. Satan’s army has invaded us and he has rooted himself into our families, our government and many other areas. Because of his invasion we have seen the decay of our morality and even our churches are turning a blind eye to the sinfulness of our nation.

However, I believe there is still hope for this country and it starts right here in our community.  It will take the Christian community standing up and being counted.  God instructed Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones and when he did, they began to come together bone to bone.  They then were covered by tendons and flesh and eventually received the very breath of life.

We must prophesy to this lost world.  That prophesy is very simple, John 14:6 says,

“I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me.” These were Jesus’ own words and they were the truth then, and they are the truth now.

We serve an amazing God and He still has the power to resurrect the dead.  We must get busy. It’s time to stop “playing church” and get in the fight for the lost souls of this world.

So, will you join with me in reaching this world for our God? All it takes is getting serious about God and His word. Let’s be the generation that finally makes the turn back to God.  It only takes one person’s faithfulness to get it started, so be that one.

God bless and have a great week in the Lord.
