Landi Shipper was chosen as Queen of the 2017 Madison County Fair last Saturday night during the Opening Ceremonies for the Livestock Show and Auction portion of the Fair. Shipper is a Madisonville High School Senior, and daughter of Tanya Parrish and Paul Shipper. She is very active in school, FFA, 4H and is a Madison County Fair Ambassador.
Amanda May, North Zulch High School, was named Runner Up and Madison Counsil, Madisonville High School was named Second Runner Up. All of the Queen candidates were judged on a written essay, interview, poise and personality.
Shipper recalls always admiring the Fair Queen and looking up to them as a role model when she attended the fair as a little girl. When asked about her feelings on being named Madison County Fair Queen, Shipper responded, “Becoming Fair Queen is so much more than a crown. I, and all the candidates, have put in a lot of hard work and dedication for the opportunity to receive the crown and title. It’s about responsibility, and being a good representative; being the Fair Queen is about setting a standard and face for the Fair.”
