Ferol Jeannine (Jefferson) Lewis, 88, of Iola, passed away on Sept. 25, 2017 in Iola. The visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Bedias, and the burial will follow at Pankey Cemetery in Bedias. Blane Trant will officiate.
Jeannine was born on June 30, 1929, in Jewett, to Frank and Beulah (McFadden) Jefferson. She graduated from Jewett High School in 1946, and attended Massey Business College. In 1948 Jeannine went to work at Southwestern Bell and left there in 1953 to take care of her first of four children. She went back to work in 1974 in Southland Corporation after her youngest child was in fourth grade. Jeannine left Southland in 1975 and went to work for the Pasadena Independent School District in the accounting department until she retired in January 1993.
Jeannine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Hilery Lewis, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Lewis; her two brothers and her five sisters.
Jeannine is survived by her children, George Wayne Lewis, John Patrick Lewis, Cynthia Trant and husband James Ray, and Harold Lewis and wife Cindy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Robert White, Seth Lewis, Jason Trant, Jeffrey Trant, Mike McKown and Dennis Klecka.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pankey Cemetery Association.
