Frances Rhenae Ledbetter, 75, passed away on Jan. 8, 2016, in Houston, after battling pulmonary problems for many years. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, in the Madisonville City Cemetery. Wayne Bell, of Madisonville Funeral Home, will officiate the service. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Madisonville Funeral Home.
Rhenae was born on Nov. 11, 1940, in Madisonville, to G.C. and Juanita (Kent) Shaffer. Rhenae was an outstanding homemaker and mom. Her first priority was always making sure her husband, daughters and grandkids were supported at home, school and in extracurricular activities, including swim meets, basketball, volleyball, football, band, fishing, hunting and other activities too numerous to list. Rhenae was passionate about quilting, knitting and sewing and created numerous works of art for family, friends and charity. Mrs. Ledbetter lived in Harris County from 1964 to 1982 and 1988 to 2002 and spent the past 14 years in Montgomery County. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Greenville, Miss., where the family lived from 1983 to 1987.
Mrs. Ledbetter was preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by husband, Wiltz Ledbetter Jr. of Montgomery; daughters, Melanie Ledbetter Remy and husband, Gary, of Sugar Land; Melinda Ledbetter McAfee and husband, David, of Austin; brother, Kent Shaffer of Kemah; and grandchildren, Chase, Alex and Grant Remy and Cameron and Kayla McAfee.
Rhenae previously made a specific request that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association of Houston, 2020 N. Loop West, Ste. 250, Houston, TX 77018.
