Fundraiser set for Iola resident


Please join us Saturday, Oct. 21, at 4:30 p.m. to help raise money for Easton Evans, son of Red and Emily Evans, who was injured in an ATV accident. The evening will begin at 4:30 with a Mallett Bros barbecue dinner. Plates are $10 each (children 5 and younger are free). Dinner will be followed by a live auction and bucket pull auction. Meal tickets and bucket pull tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event. This event will take place at Main Street Market.

Team Easton shirts are now available for $15 apiece. Order forms should have been sent home all ready and may be returned to the school. There will also be different set up times that you can come and buy the shirts. Shirts will be sold until the barbeque benefit. Thank you to Scott Kessler Designs for designing these shirts to match Easton’s favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. All proceeds from the shirt sales will go to the Evans family benefit. There will be an Evan’s family goat benefit goat roping series, with the first being this Saturday Sept. 23, at 4 p.m. The first series will be held at Silver Horse Ranch Arena. The address is 4045 Golden Eagle Drive in Bryan, 77808. Open goat roping is $10 a man; 12 and under goat roping and dummy roping is $5 per man, as well as with 8 and under dummy roping. Concession and shirt will be available. All proceeds go to the Evan’s family benefit. Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported this family, they are outstanding people.

•Iola Fun Day vendors are needed. This is a great opportunity to promote your business locally. There is always a great turnout for Iola Fun Day. They are looking for vendors to sell food, arts and crafts. Let’s line Main Street. Please contact for further information.

This years’ Iola Fun Day will be Oct. 21. This is always a wonderful family friendly event the weekend of homecoming. Events taking place taking place at the Iola Fun Day are Bulldog Dash Fun Run, parade, vendors, games, and live and silent Auctions.

•Senior Night is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20, and will take place before the football game at 6:30 p.m.

•Congratulations to the 2017 Homecoming Court. The Homecoming queen candidates are Ally Johnson, Sarah Walkoviak, Maggie Webb and Lauren Wheaton. The Homecoming king candidates are Tyler Dykes, Levi Gariepy, Kyle Kildare and Colton Renick.

•Varsity volleyball will host Latexo on Sept. 29, with games starting at 4 p.m.

•The varsity football team will host Burton on Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Fifth quarter will be held in the elementary gym after the football game. This is for junior and high school students.
