Several members of the Madisonville girls’ soccer team received district honors, according to head coach Hannah Hays.

Madisonville senior Vanessa Hinojosa was named Most Valuable Player. Freshman Eleanor Blankenship was named Offensive Most Valuable Player and senior Jai Serguiff was named Goalkeeper of the Year.

Seniors Alma Garza and Tanera Holiday and junior Odalys Hernandez were named first team All-District, while Freshmen Brianna Abad, Maria Ayala and Anna Jimenez received second team honors.

Sophomore Samantha Vasquez and freshman Liliana Payan were both honorable mentioned.

“I am extremely proud of how this team has conducted themselves both on and off the field,” said Hays.

“Having been a part of a first-year program, these ladies have handled the pressure wonderfully, and I cannot tell you how lucky I count myself as having the opportunity to coach them through this season, as well as their playoff run. They have nothing but potential moving forward, and I am extremely excited to see what lies ahead for the Madisonville soccer program.”
