Goats, lambs on show

Participants in the Madison County Fair gathered Monday to weigh in their goats and lambs.

North Zulch ISD is on spring break this week, so many of the students gathered at the fairgrounds throughout the day to relax or scope out the competition.

Swine, steers and heifers took center stage on Tuesday, and plans were in place for judging rabbits, ag mechanic projects and market swine on Wednesday. The pee-wee pig show is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 23. Madison County Fair Association president Mike Corley said the show is always a crowd favorite.

Purebred heifers, halter heifers and market steers will be judged Thursday, followed by the 4H dance.

A buyers’ dinner is planned for 5 p.m. Friday, followed by a premium auction sale and presentation of awards. The annual freezer and scholarship sale is set for 10 a.m. Saturday.
