NORMANGEE — Texas State Troopers fired shots at a state police care to get a DWI suspect who had stolen the vehicle to stop.
Bridget Cast, 31, of Longview, was arrested following the incident.
According to a press release, at approximately 9:20 p.m. Friday, a DPS Trooper arrested a woman on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after investigating a traffic crash on Old San Antonio Road, near the Madison County line.
After the arrest, the woman was placed in a police cruiser, and she slipped her handcuffed hands from her back to her front and fled from the scene in the marked DPS patrol car.
The trooper, who has not been identified, partnered with a Madison County sheriff’s deputy who was on scene to offer assistance for the crash investigation, the release states. The pair pursued the woman; during the chase, the DPS trooper fired at the fleeing vehicle, disabling it, and stopping the chase that lasted about three miles.
Cast was arrested for felony evading, felony unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated. She was transported to the Madison County Sheriff's Office jail.
This case remains under investigation.
