Henson receives THRSA honor

Madisonville-based Henson Motor Co. recently made a major donation to the Texas High School and Junior High Rodeo Associations and has been named the associations’ “official dealership.”

The local business, owned by Fred and Liz Henson, joined the rodeo associations as a corporate sponsor in November and offered to fund a giveaway truck, which no dealership has ever done in the history of THSRA.

The Hensons, a past THRSA rodeo family, “knew the importance of the money raised from the Ram truck giveaway program and didn’t want our association to have to use any of the money raised to pay for the truck,” according to the association’s Web site.

Henson’s community relations manager Jodi Rice said the company is “extremely excited and greatly appreciative of this rare opportunity.”

“Joining forces with the Texas High School and Junior High Rodeo Associations not only allows Henson Family Dealerships to connect with more people across the great state of Texas, but most importantly it’s an investment,” Rice said. “Henson Family Dealerships are once again able to invest back into the youth of Texas and help to preserve the heritage of Texas through rodeo. Between the efforts of the two associations and their members, the Texas High School Rodeo Association has given more than $185,000 in scholarship money to deserving seniors in just the last two years.”

The rodeo associations and Henson Family Dealerships care about the members and their futures, Rice added.

“It is the main focus of the organizations to increase the number and size of college scholarships to be awarded to their seniors each year and we, Henson Family Dealerships, are glad to help,” she said.
