Herbert William Johnston, of Midway, passed away Dec. 31, 2015, at his home. He was 88 years old. He was born on March 31, 1927, in Tampa, Fla., to Herbert William Sr. and Elysabeth Irene (Barker) Johnston.
Mr. Johnston was a Merchant Marine and retired from SeaLand as a senior port engineer. He enjoyed anything having to do with guns. Mr. Johnston had lived in Midway since 1992 and attended the Crossroads Cowboy Church in Madisonville.
Mr. Johnston was preceded in death by both of his parents; wives, Francis Johnston and Helen Starns; daughter, Joan Irene Hanvey; son, Robert William Johnston; and brother, David Johnston. He is survived by a son, David Claiborne Johnston of Wisconsin; daughter, Desia McLain of Midway; grandchildren, Dalton and Montana Johnston, Robert, Shana, Sabrina and Shelby McLain, Robert Lyons and Helen Hanvey; and great-grandchildren, Chloe, Zoiey and Makinley McLain and Robert D. and Kaislyn Lyons.
Madisonville Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
