Bedias Civic Club meets tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. It is not too soon to start planning for the Bedias Christmas Parade, Saturday, Dec. 17. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate in all civic club activities. Call Janet Green, 936-395-1010, for more information.

Likely you are aware that next Tuesday is Election Day. But did you know that registered Grimes County voters may now cast their ballot at any of the 14 Grimes County voting stations? Call the Grimes County registrar, 936-873-4424, with any questions.

Tommy Mayhood shares that the Thomas Jewett Goree SCV Camp will have a program about the Battle of Chickamauga presented by Jerry Nelson of Brenham on Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. The group will meet at Rancho Viejo Restaurant in the conference room, in Madisonville (on the courthouse square). The public is invited.

The Annual Bedias Women’s Club Veteran’s Day Dinner is Friday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m., at the Bedias Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. All Bedias area Veteran’s and a guest are invited and encouraged to attend the dinner and to be recognized for their service to our country. Gerald Fontaine shares that the Navasota VFW will host a number of events recognizing Veterans, Saturday, Nov. 12. There will be a 10:30 a.m. downtown parade, a display of a Blackhawk helicopter, an 11 a.m. barbeque Lunch, both at the VFW Hall, a raffle/fundraiser, and an 8 p.m. country/western dance. Bedias Women’s Club will sponsor a “Country Market,” Thursday, Nov. 17, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bedias Civic Center. Our market will feature handmade wood and leather items including furniture and purses; homemade jams, jellies, cheeses and baked goods, gourmet coffee, antiques, soaps, guns and ammo and much more. 

We will also offer a boxed supper containing a baked potato with all the trimmings and a dessert. Free admission, free door prizes and a silent auction. Everyone is welcome! 

Proceeds from the Women’s Club Market will help defer the cost of the Women’s Club Annual Veterans Day Dinner and our annual scholarships to Madisonville and Iola High School seniors. Please call Patti Rickard, 936-395-2223, for more information.
