Jacqueline Blakeney


Jacqueline “Jacquie” Faye (Frazier) Blakeney, 90, of Madisonville, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016, in Bryan. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 8, at First Baptist Church in Madisonville. Visitation was held Tuesday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Mark Trichel officiated.

Jacqueline was born on Aug. 28, 1925, to Daniel and Sina (Lee) Frazier in Shreveport, La. She attended Charity Hospital in New Orleans to become a registered nurse, and was trained and served in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II. She was a member of the DAR, UDC, DRT and Tea Party. Jacqueline was also an active member at First Baptist Church in Madisonville and devoted her time to the women’s ministry and missions program.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Blakeney Sr.; her sister, Freida Williams; and her granddaughter, Anyse Blakeney.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Bailey and husband, Craig; her son, Thomas “Tommy” Esten Blakeney Jr. and wife, Lee; her granddaughters, Abigail Hodel and husband, Derek, Randi Kent and husband, Kevin, and Casee Davis and husband, Justin; her grandsons, Esten Blakeney and wife, Rebecca, and Wes Bailey and wife, Brittany; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or student camp scholarships at First Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers were Charles Park, Bob Samuel, Frank Knight, Curtis Park, Dixie Murray Mayton, Greg Blakeney and Asa Bennett.

Day Funeral Home of Madisonville handled arrangements.
