Jingle Mingle on tap for Saturday

The second annual Iola Mingle Jingle will be Dec. 11 from 5-7 p.m. at Main Street Market. This event is a great opportunity to shop local vendors as well as an evening of fellowship. Several local shops in town will also be open late. Wrap up your Christmas shopping and boost our local economy.

•A benefit for Shirley Bailey will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Dec. 9 at 5 p.m. Shirley was recently diagnosed with cancer and this benefit will go toward helping with cost associated with treatment. There will a meal served as well as both a live and silent auction. A bucket raffle will also take place. The meals will be $12 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. There is an account set up for expenses occurred in treatment at The First National Bank of Anderson.

•The Christmas band concert will be Dec. 14 at the high school gym from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. This event has kids from fifth grade all the way to high school playing cheery Christmas songs. It is a great way to see the progress and work the kids are putting in band and the great things they are learning.

Congratulations to the fighting Bulldog football team on a great season. Area champs. Y’all showed tremendous heart and had a wonderful season.

•There will be a junior varsity girls basketball tournament in Anderson beginning Dec. 7.

•Junior varsity and varsity boys basketball will play in a tournament hosted by Franklin starting Dec. 7.

•Varsity girls basketball will play in a tournament commencing on Dec. 7 and being hosted by Centerville.
