Johnnie Glen Ledbetter, age 79 of Madisonville, passed away on May 26, 2016. He was born on Aug. 21, 1936, in Cowan, Tenn., to Ora Lou Vena and Floyd Lee Ledbetter.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 30, 2016, at Madisonville Funeral Home. The Rev. Wade Phillips officiated. Burial followed at the Pankey Cemetery in Bedias.
A visitation was held Sunday, May 29, at the funeral home.
Johnnie lived in Madison County for 54 years. He was a policeman in Madisonville and was a volunteer with the Madisonville Fire Department. Johnnie worked several jobs, including being a night watchman for McDermott Ranch and several oil companies. He was also employed at Reed's Furniture Store and Kay & Herring Propane Co. Johnnie served in the United States Army Reserves. He loved coon hunting, fishing and gardening.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Herbert Kenneth Ledbetter and Leonard Ledbetter. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Ledbetter of Madisonville; daughters, Rebecca Fay Ledbetter Taylor of Leona, Sandra Denise Ledbetter Lee (James) of Madisonville, and Leslie Kay Ledbetter Young (Derald) of Laurel, Miss.; a brother, Lester Lee Ledbetter of Livingston, Tenn.; a sister, Edna Bell Ledbetter Greenwood of Livingston; and nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jay Lee, Rusty Nash, Calb Neyland, Blayne Scott, Alex Wilson and James Waddell.
