The North Zulch Lady Bulldogs basketball team had a tough week with two big losses to district opponents.
They dropped Wednesday's weather makeup match to Somerville and fell again two nights later to Snook.
"We played the top two teams in district," said North Zulch Ladies Basketball Head Coach Kimberly Branch. "We knew they'd be tough games. We weren't happy with our performances, and have refocused on the big picture."
The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Somerville on Wednesday the to compete against the Lady Yegua, and lost the game 50-37. In the fourth quarter, the girls tried to rally by scoring 20 points, but ultimately fell short of the win.
The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but had to be moved to Wednesday due to the winter weather.
North Zulch's leading scorer against the Yegua was Cassidy Brown with 11 points. She delivered on three shots from behind the 3-point line.
North Zulch hosted the Snook Lady Blue Jays on Friday and suffered a painful home loss of 59-19. The Lady Bulldogs struggled with Snook's full court press. Also, North Zulch gave up 26 free throw attempts. The Blue Jays capitalized on 18 of them.
Emma Baker and Sally Osth were the Bulldog scoring leaders on Friday with just 4 points apiece.
Coach Branch still has her eyes on the postseason, saying, "We've put those games behind us and are moving forward. At this point, we are focused on finding a way into the playoffs."
The Lady Bulldogs' next game is on the road at Iola High School on Friday and they will return home on the following Tuesday to host Burton.
