Lady Bulldogs split in volleyball

Last week, the North Zulch Lady Bulldogs volleyball team lost to the Iola Bulldogs 3-0. North Zulch lost the first game 14-25 and struggled in the second and third game losing 16-25 and 19-25. Sally Osth led North Zulch in kills with 16. Emma Baker led in assists with 21 and Robin Diserens led in digs with 20.
The Lady Bulldogs, however, bounced back on Friday when they faced the Latexo Tigers defeating them 3-1. North Zulch won the first and second game 26-24, 25-19 but lost a close game three, 22-25 before bouncing back 25-15 in the fourth game. Sally Osth led North Zulch in kills with 17, while Raegan VanCour had 7 and Andi McWhorter had six.
“We have been resilient all year,” said Head Coach Greg Horn after Friday night’s victory. “Multiple times this year we have been behind in sets and have worked through the problems to persevere – these girls seem to be able to pull together, rely on their teammates and find success.”
Emma Baker led the team with 29 assists while Diserens led in digs with 30, VanCour had 19, Osth had 18 and Baker had 16. Osth also led North Zulch with three blocks. The Lady Bulldogs have a 20-10 record and are currently sitting at 8-3 in district play. North Zulch is on the road again, traveling to play Lovelady, Friday at 4 p.m.
