Lady Bulldogs to take on Grapeland Friday


The North Zulch Lady Bulldogs are 7-2 with some of the leading players in the Brazos Valley as they prepare to take on Grapeland this Friday.

Local stats show that North Zulch’s Sally Osth is sixth in the region in kills with 308 and fourth in hitting percentage with a .339. Emma Baker ranked eighth in assists with 411, and Robin Diserens holds the third-place title for digs with 396 this season.

The three team leaders, along with Andi McWhorter and Raegan VanCour have posted impressive stats so far this year and are among the area’s leaders in multiple categories.

The varsity Lady Bulldogs play at Grapeland at 4 p.m. Friday, followed by junior varsity at 5 p.m.

Junior high volleyball Coach Kendra Gilbert reported the following statistics:

NZ. vs. Normangee on Sept. 20:

White team - 25-4, 19-25, 15-7

Black team - 25-17, 25-9

Gold Team - 25-23, 21-25, 15-4

NZ vs. Centerville on Sept. 12:

Season opener vs. Iola on Aug. 29:

White team - 17-25, 16-25

Black team - 8-25, 17-25

Gold team - 6-25, 18-25

The junior high teams are set to play in a tournament Oct. 1 in North Zulch.
