PALESTINE — The Lady Mustang basketball team capped off their season on Friday with a tough loss to Tatum, 46-41.
Junior Lexi Leveston scored 13 points and had 15 rebounds, leading the team to a 23-22 lead at halftime. The Lady Eagles clawed back with a whopping 16 points in the final quarter, bringing Madisonville’s championship dreams to a halt.
Head Coach Shana Taylor said she was proud of the girls.
“The Lady Mustang basketball team is a class act,” she said Monday. “These young ladies work hard every day and produce on the court as well. They have a passion for excellence and their camaraderie is contagious.”
Starters Leveston, Tyana Brown, Latayvia Byrd, Tra’Dayja Smith, Zanavia Manning and Shakayla Burns will be returning next season.
“This year was a joy for me because of the commitment and work ethic of these young ladies. I look forward to another great season next year as the senior-laden team takes the challenge again.”
