Camryn Frederick, Quincey Surface, Tyana Brown, Tra’Dayja Smith and Lexi Leveston were back at home on the Mustang volleyball court Monday morning as the Lady Mustangs began two-a-days.
Head Coach Melissa Padgett is known for her grueling practices, but the girls appeared to be up for the challenge.
“What I put these girls through is a feat in and of itself,” Padgett said during the MCISD athletic banquet in May. “They never gave up on me. No one can take away what y’all did in two-a-days.”
The team finished 22-16 overall and 4-4 in district last season, and almost all the starters are returning this year. Surface was named the volleyball team’s MVP for the 2015 season, and Brown is No. 1 academically in the MHS senior class.
The Lady Bulldogs persevered through tough practices this week, and Padgett continued to push them.
“I don’t care if y’all do everything I say,” she told the athletes. “I care if you can pass the ball.”
The Lady Mustangs scrimmage at home on Saturday at 9 a.m. Varsity takes the court vs. A&M Consolidated at 6 p.m. Aug. 9 at Mustang Gym.
